Load Combinations

Each beam is investigated for all the skip load live load conditions indicated previously for each of the following Load Combinations (note that floor and roof live load are combined and applied as a single live load):

AISC 360 ASD
  • 1.0 DL
  • 1.0 DL + 1.0 LL
AISC 360 LRFD LRFD 3 rd
  • 1.0 DL
  • 1.2 DL + 1.6 LL
ASD 9th
  • 1.0 DL + 1.0 LL
CAN/CSA S16
  • 1.4 DL
  • 1.25 DL + 1.5 LL
  • 0.9 DL + 1.5 LL

Based on the Importance category, NBC of Canada may allow Live, Roof, and Snow loads to be reduced or may require that the Snow loads be increased. The program does not apply these factors. The loads should be input with the factors applied as appropriate.

BS 5950
  • 1.4 DL
  • 1.4 DL + 1.6 LL
  • 1.0 DL + 1.6 LL
AS 4100 and AS 2327.1
Load combination template files were generated based on AS/NZS 1170.0:2002, Section 4.2 Combinations of Actions for Ultimate Limit States. Section 4.2.2 Strength
The combinations included are:
  • (a) [1.35G]
  • (b) [1.2G, 1.5Q]
where
G
=
Dead Load ("permanent action")
Q
=
Live Load ("imposed action")
The combinations are expanded as follows:
  • 1.35DL
  • 1.2DL + 1.5 LL
