RAM Steel Beam Design includes the ability to select and designate steel joists. Selections may be made from joist tables or joist designations may be made based on the joist loads and assigned depths. Models may include any combination of steel beams, steel joists and beams made of other material. In the RAM Modeler, steel beams, as well as beams modeled in other materials, can be easily changed to joists, and vice versa, for the purpose of comparative studies. The procedure for modeling, designing, and outputting reports for joists is nearly identical to that for beams. It is important, therefore, to review the previous chapters that describe these functions. This chapter is included to indicate items peculiar to steel joists.
