Beams - Add Off-Grid: Parallel to Beam

To add a beam parallel to an existing beam by specifying a perpendicular offset distance and selecting a reference beam:

  1. Select the Parallel To Beam option button.
  2. Type the offset distance between a reference beam and the new beam in the Offset edit box.
Note: A value of 0.00 for the offset is permissible; that would be used to add a new beam exactly in line with an existing beam.
  3. Click Add button. The dialog box will disappear and RAM Modeler will enter the Add Beam Off-Grid Layout Mode.
  4. Click a reference beam. This beam is used to define the orientation of the new beam and the location from which the Offset is to be measured. Two parallel guide lines will appear, parallel to the reference beam at the offset distance specified. Note that if the Offset was specified as 0.00, only one parallel guide line will appear, directly in line with the reference beam.
  5. Click anywhere along either of the parallel guide lines to identify the bay in which the new beam is to be added. The new beam will automatically determine and attach to the supporting columns, beams or walls.
