View Diagrams

For beams, clicking the View Diagrams Button will cause the Shear, Moment, Deflection window to appear.

You may observe the shear, moment and deflection diagrams for the Dead Load, Maximum Positive Load, and Maximum Negative Load by marking the appropriate option boxes. By default, all three loading conditions are shown. Except for AISC ASD, the shear and moment diagrams are based on factored loads (e.g. 1.4DL or 1.2DL + 1.6LL for LRFD, etc.). Note that Maximum Positive refers to that loading (skip load) which will result in the maximum positive moment (e.g. live load only on the center span, not cantilevers). Maximum Negative load refers to that loading (skip load) which will result in the maximum negative moment. Moving the cursor through the Display Window will cause the shear, moments and deflections at any point on the beam to be shown.

Selecting the Print Button will cause the Diagrams to be printed.

Selecting the Cancel Button will cause the Shear, Moment, Deflections Window to disappear and will return control to the View/Update Beam dialog box.

For joists and Smartbeams, the deflection diagrams are not available.
