RAM Structural System Help

Add a Nodal Load Assignment:

Nodal loads are always associated with a nodal load case. Because a nodal load can be associated with more than one load case, care must be taken to ensure that the desired nodal load case is selected with each assignment.

  1. Select a load case from the drop down list box.
  2. Select a nodal load to be assigned that is associated with the nodal load case selected in step 1.
  3. Click Add. The Nodal Load Layout Mode dialog box will disappear and the RAM Modeler will enter the Nodal Load Add Layout Mode.
  4. Click the target cursor on the joints where the load is to be applied.

Helpful Hint: Use the arrows that appear on the screen to double check the direction of the load assignments. When a dot appears instead of an arrow, this indicates an out-of-plane load. Remember that a positive force in the Z direction indicates compression. Also note that the single-headed arrow indicates a force and a double-headed arrow represents a moment rotating around global axis (i.e., using the right-hand rule, the thumb points in the direction of the double-headed arrow and the fingers are in the direction of moment).
