Truss supports

Translational and rotational restraints are used to model supports. Each support is assigned to a node coordinate and has 6 degrees of freedom in thee dimensions.

Truss supports are defined over top chord or bottom chord members.

The variables used in this spreadsheet are:

• Member type: Determines if the support is to be placed over top chord or bottom chord members.
• X offset: Determines the distance along X axis where the support is to be placed.
• Restraint type: Allows you to select the support restraint type. Possible values are:

Pinned: Translational restraint along X and Y direction.

Fixed: Translational restraint along X and Y direction and rotational restraint along Z direction.

Roller: Translational restraint along Y direction.
