Cb33 The bending coefficient is used in steel design and depends on the moment gradient in the 3-3 direction.
Cb22 The bending coefficient is used in steel design and depends on the moment gradient in the 2-2 direction.
CLT restraint Sets the member with continuous lateral-torsional restraint. This flag affects only the design calculations and when it is used the lateral torsional buckling (LTB) is not considered in the design.
L33 This is the unbraced length measured between centers of gravity of the bracing members in the 3-3 (strong) axis. L33 is used for flexural buckling about the 3-3 axis. If L33 = 0, the program will assume the length L between nodes. If, for analysis, the physical member has been subdivided, the values of these parameters should reflect the real length of the member. Rigid end zones are assumed to reduce the length of the members.
K33 This is the effective length factor for bending about axis 3-3 (major). The objective of this variable is to calculate the axial capacity of the member considering the buckling effect. If K has its default value of (0), the program will assume a value of K=1.
K22 This is the effective length factor for bending about 2-2 (minor). The objective of this variable is to calculate the axial capacity of the member considering the buckling effect.
a (Connectors) Distance between connectors in built-up members. It is used to calculate the modified slenderness of the built-up member following Section E6 specially 2L sections.
Conn. TSL This option is only for single angle compression members and defines that the member is connected through the shorter leg. See Section E5 for further details.
a (Stiffeners) It is the clear distance between stiffeners. It is used for the shear check (Section G2)
TF action This option allows the consideration of the tension field action in the nominal shear strength. It is permitted when the web plate is supported on all four sides by flanges or stiffeners. It is important to note that there are several restrictions in the use of this hypothesis that the program does not check. See Section G3 of the Specifications.
Planar Elem. This option is also used for single angle and defines that the member is part of a planar truss or structure. If the option is off the program will consider that the member is part of a space model. See Section E5 for further details.
Consider Eccentricity Enabling this option the single angle member slenderness will be calculated according to the section E4 or E7. If the option is unchecked, the design of the single angle will be according to E5.
LPA This parameter indicates the application point of the load for a single angle in order to consider the effects of torsion due to shear forces. This parameter can be:
CFT Restraint This options indicates whether the member has continuous torsional and flexural-torsional buckling restraint. If so, the limit state of flexural-torsional and torsional buckling (section E4) will be ignored in the compression design.
Value type K33 This parameter can be Theoretical or Recommended and these are used to determine the approximate values of effective length factor K33, according to Table C-C2.2 of the specification.
Value type K22 This parameter can be Theoretical or Recommended and these are used to determine the approximate values of effective length factor K22, according to Table C-C2.2 of the specification.
