Concentrated forces

To define a concentrated load, the following parameters should be assigned:

• Member type: Determines if the force is to be assigned over top chord or bottom chord members.
• Load Condition: Selects a load condition where the force is assigned.
• Magnitude: Represents the magnitude of the concentrated load. The units are [Force], (i.e. Kip). A positive sign coincides with the upward vertical direction.
• %: Indicates if the values of the distances are entered as absolute distances or as a percentage of the total length.
• Distance: Represents the distance of the load relative to the left end of the structure along X axis. If % is selected, the value must be entered as a percentage of the total length.
• Projection: Determines the load projection over the member. Possible values are vertical and perpendicular.
