From the reference:
Example II.C-1. Truss support connection.
Given: Based on the configuration shown in Figure II.C-1-1, determine:
- The connection requirements between the gusset and the column
- The required gusset size and the weld requirements connecting the diagonal to the gusset.
The reaction on the truss end connection are:
- RD= 16.6 kips
- RL= 53.8 kips
Use 7/8 in. diameter ASTM A325-N or F1852-N bolts in standard holes and 70 ksi electrodes. The top chord and column are ASTM A992 material. The diagonal member, gusset plate and clip angles are ASTM A36 material.
Note: Currently in RAM Connection It is only possible to compare
with Gusset and Brace capacities.
Refer to the figure in the reference for additional details.
Results
| Parameter | RAM Connection | Reference | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tensile yielding of Diagonal (Interface between Gusset – Bottom right brace – Checks for gusset and brace – Yielding strength due to axial load) - Tr (kips) | 173.66 | 174 | Difference due to rounding |
| Tensile yielding of Diagonal (Interface between Gusset – Bottom right brace – Checks for gusset and brace – Brace side – Tensile rupture) - Tr (kips) | 205.33 | 206 | Difference due to rounding |
