ACI 318-14 and ACI 318-19 Specific Options

SettingDescription
Ignore PT Controls the design code rules for punching shear capacity. When this option is selected, the punching shear capacity will be checked using design code equations for nonpresstressed sections even if the zone qualifies as prestressed.
Reduce vc at Sections Away from Column Face per ACI 421.1-20 Option to design sections outside d/2 from the column face with v c = 2 f c . If not selected, vc is calculated using the equations defined in ACI 318.
Design Flexural Sections Allows higher maximum stud spacings, depending upon the stress levels in the critical sections.
Ignore Size Effect Factor (for Shear in Foundations) This option is only be visible when ACI 318-19 is the active Design Code. It is checked by default in new models that are created when Mat Foundation is selected for Structure Type. The intent of this option is to ignore the size effect factor when designing foundation members as permitted by ACI 318-19 13.2.6.2.
vc User-defined stress for concrete punching shear capacity (excluding ϕ factor) for reinforced sections. When "Code" is selected, the capacity is calculated using the equations in the selected design code. A specific stress value can also be entered in the field box. Entered values are not permitted to exceed the value permitted by the selected design code.
vn User-defined stress for maximum nominal punching shear capacity for reinforced sections (vc + vs and excluding ϕ factor). When "Code" is selected, the capacity is calculated using the equations in the selected design code. A specific stress value can also be entered in the field box. Entered values are not permitted to exceed the value permitted by the selected design code.
Min vs User-defined minimum quantity of SSR that must intersect each critical section. When specified SSR is designed even if not required otherwise.
Min SSR Rail Length User-defined minimum rail length used to design SSR when reinforcement is required.
