With the Selection tool (
), select span segments 5-2 and 6-2 as shown in the previous figure.

Click the Orient Span Cross Section tool (
).

Turn on Snap Orthogonal (
).

Click near one of the span segments, and then again above or below the first click.
The orientation line half way along the span strip is now
"vertical".
