A plan is a view of the geometric model and results. You can view any object on any plan. You can only create and edit an object on a plan belonging to the object’s layer. For example, an other dead load can only be edited on a plan belonging to the Other Dead Loading layer.

Objects are drawn and edited with tools located in Layer-Specific toolbars, and the Tools menu. The available tools are dependent on which plan is the active window in the workspace. Once you draw an object on a plan, the object belongs to that plan’s layer.
