Adding a duplicate rule set design allows you to separate the results for different load combinations with the same active rules. For example, if a strength design is required for three different load combinations (1. Dead and Live; 2. Dead, Reduced Live and Snow; 3. Seismic) then you could keep the results separate by creating two new rule set designs with names such as "Snow" and "Seismic" which both use the code strength rules. This way you can view the strength reinforcement requirements separately.

You can delete non-applicable rule set designs to simplify the file. For example, in ACI 318-02, initial service design, and sustained service design are not required for floors without post-tensioning. Another example is DL + 0.25LL Design is not required if the UBC is not used.
