Connecting to an OLE DB Data Source
This section covers how to set up an OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) database for use with Promis.e .
OLE DB provides open data access and uses a standard set of COM interfaces for accessing and manipulating many different types of data. These interfaces are commonly referred to as Data Providers. You may need to contact your database vendor to determine if a OLE database provider is available for your database product.
Applications, such as Promis.e , that access data through OLE DB are called a Data Consumer. OLE DB interfaces can be developed to access simple data or true relational databases making it more flexible than the current ODBC technology.
