Getting Links for Documents, Folders, and Saved Searches

Use the Get link icon to get an HTTPS link for any document, folder, work area, or saved search, which can then be shared with other users as needed (for example, pasted in a chat message, email, or document).

You can get the following types of links:

  • a ProjectWise Web link (default)
  • a ProjectWise Explorer link
  • a Microsoft Teams link (requires that the work area connection that contains the linked item must first be added as a tab in Microsoft Teams).
  • a ProjectWise Web View link (assumes a connection to the datasource that contains the linked item already exists in ProjectWise Web View)

The user who clicks the link is taken directly to the item in the interface specified in the link (after being prompted to log in, if needed).

It is assumed that the user you are sharing the link with has an account in the datasource and access to the selected item.

Getting a Link

  1. Click the check box next to the document or folder you want to get a link for.

If you want to get a link for a saved search, just run the saved search as usual.

  2. Click Get link .
Tip: If you have a document selected in the search results and you want to get a link to the selected document and not the saved search, select Get link > Link to selected item. If you have a document selected in the search results and you want to get a link to the saved search instead of the selected document, select Get link > Link to saved search.
  3. In the Get Link dialog, select the type of link you want to get for the selected item, and click the Copy button to the right of the Copy link field.
    1. To get a ProjectWise Web link (the default link type), just click the Copy button.
    2. To get a ProjectWise Explorer link, select Advanced options > Create link for > ProjectWise Explorer and click Copy.
    3. To get a Microsoft Teams link, select Advanced options > Create link for > Microsoft Teams and click Copy.
Note: For the Microsoft Teams link option to be enabled, this work area connection must first be added as a tab in Microsoft Teams.
    4. To get a ProjectWise Web View link, select Advanced options > Create link for > ProjectWise Web View and click Copy.

The link is copied to the clipboard for you to paste wherever you need to.
