Background maps are the backdrops that are displayed in the Spatial/Geospatial tab in ProjectWise Explorer. They are used as maps over which the document and folder spatial locations are drawn.

You can assign a default background map to a folder. If you want to use another background map on a folder without changing the folder's default background map, you can select another map that will temporarily override the folder's default background map.
