Calculating a Spatial Location

The spatial location can be calculated from the Spatial tab in the Folder or Document Properties dialog.

In the case of folders, the spatial location will be calculated by adding all the spatial locations of the objects (documents and subfolders) contained in the current folder. The result of the calculation is a MBR (Minimum Bounding Rectangle). If a spatial location is already assigned to the current folder, the Calculate option will recompute the spatial location and take into account the modifications in the folder’s content if needed.



The case of documents is different. Only documents containing spatial information, like DGN or GeoTIFF documents can have their spatial location calculated. The tool does not take into account the coordinate system, and calculates only the geometry (extent) of the document. The appropriate coordinate system must be chosen from the list as in the example below.
