Select an Action Dialog

Used to guide the user as to what action to take when moving or copying a document into a folder that already contains a document with the same document name or file name. When this dialog opens, the default option selected depends on the default option set in the Document Creation Conflicts category in the Settings tab of the User Properties dialog.

When the Select an Action dialog opens, it displays the name of the document responsible for causing the document creation conflict, and suggests a default option for how to handle the conflict. If more than one document is in conflict, the first document in conflict is the one that is displayed.

SettingDescription
Create a new document If on, a new document will be created based on the document in conflict.
Create a new version of existing document If on, a new version of the document will be created for the document in conflict.
Skip this item If on, the document in conflict will not be created in the folder at all.
Apply this choice for all succeeding documents If on, the selected option above will be applied to all other documents in the set that have conflicts. When this option is off, you will be prompted about how you want to proceed for each document in the set that has a conflict. This option is disabled if only one document is in conflict.
Define and apply common rules This option becomes enabled after Apply this choice for all succeeding items is selected, when either Create a new document or Create a new version of existing document is also selected. When this option is on, whatever rules or formatting you specify for the first document in the set that has a conflict, will be applied to all documents in the set that have a conflict. When this option is off (but Apply this choice for all succeeding documents is on), you will have to specify the rules or formatting for each document in the set that has a conflict.
