Numbering Rules for Generating Package IDs
Each package in the project is automatically assigned an ID number when it is created, based on the default numbering rules of your project. The ID number consists of a prefix and an auto-incremented number. You can use the default prefixes as is or modify them as needed.
To modify the default package ID numbering rules:
-
Click the
Settings icon
to open the
Settings page.
- Go to the Identification tab and click the Numbering tab.
-
Click in the
Prefix field of the
Package type whose numbering rules you want to
change.

When finished editing a prefix, click the check mark icon inside
the
Prefix field to apply the changes.
In new projects:
- For all package types, the incoming version of a package will automatically have the same ID as the outgoing version of the package. This means that there will only be one numbering rule to configure for transmittals, and only one numbering rule to configure for RFIs.
In existing projects:
- The incoming version of a transmittal (called a submittal) will have a different package ID than the outgoing version of the transmittal. This means you can configure one numbering rule for outgoing transmittals, and another numbering rule for incoming submittals.
- The incoming version of an RFI will have a different package ID than the outgoing version of the RFI. This means you can configure one numbering rule for outgoing transmittals, and another numbering rule for incoming submittals.
- The incoming version of a general correspondence will have the same ID as the outgoing version of the general correspondence. This means that there will only be one numbering rule to configure for each general correspondence package type.
