Attribute Mapping Dialog

Used to configure which attribute values are copied from the source documents to the new documents that get created when a job is run. In this context, attribute can mean either general document properties or custom environment attributes.

This dialog opens when you click the Attribute Mapping button on the Output Destination Folder dialog.

In order for an attribute value to be copied from the source document to the new document, you must first map a source attribute (an attribute on the source document) to a destination attribute (an attribute on the new (destination) document).

You can map:

  • document properties of source documents to document properties of destination documents
  • document properties of source documents to environment attributes of destination documents
  • environment attributes of source documents to document properties of destination documents
  • environment attributes of source documents to environment attributes of destination documents

How To Map a Source Attribute to a Destination Attribute

  1. Select a source attribute.

In the Source attributes section, do the following:

    1. Select either Document or Environment.
    2. If you select Environment, then also select a specific environment from the Name list.

The Attribute list is now populated with either a list of general document properties (if you selected Document) or custom environment attributes (if you selected Environment and a specific environment).

    3. Select a document property or environment attribute from the Attribute list.
  2. Select a destination attribute.

In the Destination attributes section, do the following:

    1. Select Environment.
    2. Select a specific environment from the Name list.
    3. Select an environment attribute from the Attribute list.
  3. Click Add.

This particular attribute mapping is added to the list. Repeat the steps above to create another mapping.

How To Use Auto Map to Map Environment Attributes

The Auto Map button lets you automatically map source environment attributes to destination environment attributes. This feature works best when both the source and destination environments are the same or very similar (have mostly the same attributes).

  1. Select the source environment.

In the Source attributes section, do the following:

    1. Select Environment.
    2. Select a specific environment from the Name list.
  2. Select the destination environment.

In the Destination attributes section, do the following:

    1. Select Environment.
    2. Select a specific environment from the Name list.
  3. Click Auto Map.

The attribute mappings are added to the list.

Source attributes

SettingDescription
Document Filters the Attribute list in this section to display general document properties.
Environment / Name Selecting Environment enables the Name field for you to select a specific environment. Selecting an environment then filters the Attribute list in this section to display the custom attributes of that environment.
Attribute Used to select which document property or environment attribute (depending on whether Document or Environment is selected above) to use as the source attribute.

Destination attributes

SettingDescription
Document Filters the Attribute list in this section to display the Description property. This is the only document property you can map to, because all the other destination document properties are reserved or predetermined. The typical example is to map one of the source document properties (for example, Department) to the Description property of the destination document.
Environment / Name Selecting Environment enables the Name field for you to select a specific environment. Selecting an environment then filters the Attribute list to display the custom attributes of that environment.

Auto Map Used to automatically map attributes in the source environment to matching attributes in the destination environment and add the attribute mappings to the Defined mappings list.
Add Used to add individually mapped attribute pairs to the Defined mappings list.
Remove Used to remove the selected attribute mapping from the Defined mappings list.
Defined mappings Displays all the of the configured attribute mappings.
