Background maps are the backdrops that are displayed on the Spatial tab in ProjectWise Explorer. They are used as maps over which the document and folder spatial locations are drawn.

Right-click the Background Maps datasource node and select:

• Create Background Map — to create a background map.
• Background Map Setup Assistant — to create a background map using a wizard. It is not a replacement of the entire background maps creation process, but a tool to easily and quickly create a background map. All of the options selected in the assistant will be added to the Coordinate Systems and the Background Maps datasource nodes.
• Properties — to apply granular security to this datasource node.
