ProjectWise Administrator Help

Application Properties Dialog

Used to define a ProjectWise application. Opens when you double-click an existing application, or when you right-click the Applications node and select New > Application.

A ProjectWise application can include as little or as much information as you require. It can be a name only, or it can include one or more file extensions that are associated with it. You can also configure the program to launch when a ProjectWise Explorer user selects to open, view, markup, or print a document that is associated to that application.

SettingDescription
Associated web viewer This setting is only needed if you are still using the old ProjectWise Web Server, it does not apply (and is not needed or used at all) when your users are using the ProjectWise Web and ProjectWise Web View cloud services of ProjectWise 365.
Associated Attribute Exchange mapping This is a system setting that is preset by default, and only needs to be configured if you are creating a new application that will be associated to MicroStation, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint documents, and you will be using attribute exchange with that application.

This setting controls whether attribute exchange is performed on the server or the client computer, for the documents associated to this application.

By default, the applications for MicroStation, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, are all preset to use server-side processing for attribute exchange:

  • MicroStation application is set to WPS_AAM_MSTAGS_00001 (description: MicroStation Title Blocks)
  • AutoCAD application is set to WPS_AAM_ACADTB_00001 (description: AutoCAD Title Blocks)
  • Microsoft Word application is set to WPS_AAM_OFFICE_00001 (description: Microsoft Office Attribute Support)
  • Microsoft Excel application is set to WPS_AAM_OFFICE_00001 (description: Microsoft Office Attribute Support)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint application is set to WPS_AAM_OFFICE_00001 (description: Microsoft Office Attribute Support)

All other applications are set to <none> by default, since ProjectWise only offers attribute exchange for MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
