List of Audit Trail Logging Options
The following logging options, grouped by record type, are available on the Audit Trail Settings dialog, which opens when you click the Settings button on the Audit Trail tab of the Datasource Properties dialog.
Document
Document Created | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is created. |
Document Deleted | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is deleted. |
Document Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document's properties are modified. |
Document Attribute Created and Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document attribute is created or modified. |
Document File Added | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a file is first attached to an existing placeholder document. |
Document File Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a file is removed from a document. |
Document File Replaced | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever the file currently attached to a document is replaced by another file. |
Document Exported | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever
a document is exported, whether individually exported or through a folder
export.
This global setting also controls the default status of the related user setting, . If the global audit trail setting is on, then the related user setting will be on by default and able to be turned off. If the global audit trail setting is off, then the related user setting will be off and disabled from changing. |
Document Checked out | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is checked out. This includes commands Document > Check Out and Document > Open. Note that Document > Open only creates a check out record if the document is checked out. If you use Document > Open to open a document to which you only have File Read access, then only a copy out record will be created (assuming also that the Document Copied out audit trail logging option is on). |
Document Copied out | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is copied out. This includes direct Document > Copy Out commands, but also any action that downloads a copy of a document to the working directory (for example, Document > Open, Document > Open as Read-Only, and Open With). Note that if the Document Check out audit trail logging option is also on and a user checks out a document using Document > Open, then only a check out record will be created. If Document Check out is off and a user checks out a document using Document > Open, then only a copy out record will be created. |
Document Given out | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is exported using the Send to Folder option. |
Document Checked in | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever
a document is checked in.

Document Viewed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is viewed. |
Document State Changed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever
a document is moved to another state in the workflow.

a new version of a document is created.

Document Moved | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is moved. |

Document Permission Changed | This setting has been deprecated, please use log Document Access Control Modified instead. |
Document Markup | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is marked up using the Document > Markup command. |
Document Distributed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is distributed by a Bentley i-model Composition Server for PDF job. |
Mail Message Sent | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is emailed from ProjectWise using Document > Send To > Mail Recipient. This setting does not create a record when Document > Send To > Mail Recipient As Link or Document > Send To > Messenger are used. |
Document Commented | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a check in comment is entered for a document. |
Revit Worksharing Mode Actions | If on, audit trail creates a record for each document action related to Revit worksharing mode. To record document actions that are not unique to the Revit workflow, such as creating or checking out a standalone Revit file, you simply turn on the standard audit trail options related to those actions. |
Document Packed | If on, audit trail creates a record for each document that is added to a package, when a package is created using ProjectWise i-model Packager. |
Document Unpacked | If on, audit trail creates a record for each package or mobile overlay file that is unpacked using ProjectWise i-model Packager, and also for each new document that is created as a result of being unpacked from a package or mobile overlay file. |
Document Access Control Assigned | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user is added to a specific document's access control list. |
Document Access Control Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user's permissions to a specific document are changed. |
Document Access Control Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user is removed from a specific document's access control list. |
Workflow Rules Execution Started | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a workflow rule is triggered and begins processing. |
Workflow Rules Execution Succeeded | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a triggered workflow rule is successfully processed. |
Workflow Rules Execution Failed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a triggered workflow rule is not successfully processed. |
Folder
Folder Created | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a folder or work area is created. |
Folder Deleted | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a folder or work area is deleted. |
Folder Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a folder or work area is modified. |
Folder Workflow Changed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a workflow is assigned to a folder or work area, or the existing workflow is changed. |
Folder State Changed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever the workflow state of a folder or work area changes. (The folder state is considered to be the lowest state in the assigned workflow in which at least one document still exists.) |
Folder Access Control Assigned | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user is added to a specific folder's or work area's access control list. |
Folder Access Control Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user's permissions to a specific folder or work area are changed. |
Folder Access Control Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user is removed from a specific folder's or work area's access control list. |
ProjectWise Project Association Created | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a work area is associated to a ProjectWise project. |
ProjectWise Project Association Changed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a work area, that is already associated to one ProjectWise project, gets associated to another ProjectWise project instead. |
ProjectWise Project Association Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a work area is unassociated from a ProjectWise project. |
Document Set
Document Set Created | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document set is created. |
Document Set Member Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is removed from the document set. |
Document Set Member Added | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a document is added to the document set. |
Work Area Type
The Work Area Type Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the Work Area Types Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the Work Area Types node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other Work Area Type audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual work area type's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.

Work Area Type Deleted | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a work area type is deleted. |
Work Area Type Renamed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a work area type is renamed. |

Work Area Type Property Added | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a property is added to a work area type. |
User
The User Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the Users Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the Users node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other User audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual user's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.
Group
The Group Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the Groups Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the Groups node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other Group audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual group's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.
Group Created | If on, audit trail creates a record of the date and time each group was created in the datasource. |
Group Deleted | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a group is deleted. |
Group Renamed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a group is renamed. |
Group Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a group’s properties are modified. |
Group Member Added | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user is added to the group. |
Group Member Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a user is removed from the group. |

The User List Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the User Lists Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the User Lists node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other User List audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual user list's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.

Workflow

Workflow Renamed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a workflow is renamed. |
Workflow State Added | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a state is added to a workflow. |
Workflow State Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a state is removed from a workflow. |
Workflow State Position Changed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a state is moved to another position within the same workflow. |
State
The State Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the States Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the States node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other State audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual state's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.
View
The View Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the Views Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the Views node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other View audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual global view's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.
View Created | If on, audit trail creates a record of the date and time each global view was created in the datasource, whether created from ProjectWise Administrator or ProjectWise Explorer. |
View Deleted | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a global view is deleted. |
View Renamed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a global view is renamed. |
View Columns Changed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever a column is added to or removed from a global view. |
Interface
The Interface Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the Interfaces Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the Interfaces node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other Interface audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual interface's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.
Environment
The Environment Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the Environments Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the Environments node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator. All other Environment audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the individual environment's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.
Environment Created | If on, audit trail creates a record of the date and time each environment was created in the datasource. |
Environment Deleted | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever an environment is deleted. |
Environment Renamed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever an environment is renamed. |
Environment Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever an environment is modified (for example, description changed). |
Default Environment View Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record when an environment's default document list view is removed (set back to <none>). |
Default Environment View Set | If on, audit trail creates a record when a default document list view is assigned for an environment. |
Environment Attribute
All Environment Attribute audit trail records can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the parent environment's Properties dialog in ProjectWise Administrator.
Attribute Added | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever an attribute is added to an environment. |
Attribute Removed | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever an attribute is removed from an environment. |
Attribute Modified | If on, audit trail creates a record whenever an environment attribute is modified. |
Department
The Department Deleted record can be seen on the Audit Trail tab of the Departments Properties dialog (opens when you right-click the Departments node and select Properties) in ProjectWise Administrator.
