To Add Custom Coordinate Systems

Define a custom dictionary file (.DTY) in MicroStation.

In this file make sure you define all the coordinate systems required by ProjectWise, including non-custom coordinate systems.

Copy the custom .DTY file to the ProjectWise coordinate system dictionary location. For example: C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin\dictionary

In the local Services window, stop the service for ProjectWise Design Integration Server.

Open the ProjectWise Design Integration Server's DMSKRNL.CFG file (C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin) and add a section called [UserCS] that lists each custom dictionary file you want to use. For example:

Custom Coordinate System Group #1=mycustomcsfile.dty 
Custom Coordinate System Group #2=e:\mycustomcs\mycustomcsfile2.dty

In step 2, it is possible to copy the custom coordinate system library file to a folder on the ProjectWise Design Integration Server computer other than C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin\dictionary. If this is the case, then in step 4 you will need to specify the full path to the file. If in step 2 you copy the file to the default C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin\dictionary location, then in step 4 you only need to specify the file name. In other words, when the full path is not provided, it is assumed that the file location is C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin\dictionary.

Save and close the DMSKRNL.CFG file, then restart the service for ProjectWise Design Integration Server.

This loads the standard coordinate system dictionary as well as the custom dictionary defined in the DMSKRNL.CFG file. The next time you open the Add Coordinate Systems dialog, the custom coordinate system groups are available from the Coordinate Systems Groups list.
