Unfold Pipes

Used to unfold any kind of cutout shapes, tubes and bent plates and insert its development immediately into the active UCS plane.

  • Ribbon: Steel > Utilities > Utilities > Unfold Pipes

SettingDescription
Resolution Max. Sets the resolution of the unfolding. The higher the indicated value, the more detailed is the scan of the component searching for any possible outlets or notches. The greatest acceptable value is 360. (Meaning, 180 sets a control point every two degrees.)
Inner Contour When checked, the inner contour of tube shapes is unfolded as well.
Colours Outer Contour
  • Outside Edges – Sets the color of the outer contour of the developments.
  • Tessellation Lines – Sets the color of the tessellation lines of the outer contour.
  • Bend Line – Sets the color of possibly existing bent edges of the outer contour.
Colours Inner Contour
  • Outside Edges – Sets the color of the inner contour of the developments.
  • Tessellation Lines – Sets the color of the tessellation lines of the inner contour.
Create Tessellation Lines When checked, tessellation lines are displayed.
OK Closes the dialog and save your changes.
Cancel Closes the dialog without saving changes.
Help Opens online help.
Color selection Use this button to sets the color to the active Colors element from the Color selection dialog.
Show /Hide Preview Opens or closes, respectively, a flyout panel to display an illustration based on the tool.

Creating Development

After you have exited the dialog, you have to click the shape that is to be unwound or developed. The desired operation is then supplied “sticking to the crosshairs”. Position it freely anywhere in the model and process it further if desired.

If you have selected ‘Inner Contour’, both developments are sticking to the crosshairs in the form of two properly positioned blocks. Position them anywhere in the model and then process them individually.
