Extended Stairs - Frame tab

.

Used to create a frame for the extended stairs and to specify shapes for the columns and beams used for the frame.
SettingDescription
Insert columns When checked, enables adding columns to the frame. The settings in this section help creating a basic framework for the stairs.
  • (Select reference point) – the tool prompts locating an origin point in the view. Column placements will be taken as measured from this point.
    • X – Displays the X coordinate of the frames origin point in the drawing.
    • Y – Displays the Y coordinate of the frames origin point in the drawing.
Both coordinates are detected automatically by the above (select reference point) tool. These fields can also be entered manually.
  • Shape - Displays the currently selected shape used for the column element in the frame.
    • (Select Column shape tool) – Opens the Shape Selection dialog, used to select a catalog shape from a list of standard shapes and sizes for the column.
    • Rotation (Drop-down) – Allows selecting the rotation of the selected frame shape. Select a rotation angle (at 90° increments) from the drop-down list.
    • Mirror – When checked, mirrors the selected shape of the column. Useful in some cases where the shapes needs to be mirrored in order to achieve the proper placement.
  • Columns – Settings used to define the columns.
    • Columns dropdown (the first field) – Lists column index. Make the selection here to work on a different column in the frame. The field displays selected column which is currently being edited when multiple columns have been added (using the [+]).
    • [+] – Adds a column to the frame.
    • [-] – Removes selected column from the frame.
  • Reference – Lists the reference for the location of the active column. Select the reference column about which he mirror and the rotation to be occurred.
  • X – Sets the offset from the center of the reference column in the X-direction.

This is the offset from the origin point, measured along the X-axis to the point where the column to be placed.

  • Y – Sets the offset from the center of the reference column in the Y-direction.

This is the offset from the origin point, measured along the Y-axis to the point where the column to be placed.

  • Q0 – Sets the starting elevation, at the bottom of the column.
  • Q1 – Sets the ending elevation, at the top of the column.
Insert beam When checked, enables adding breams to the frame.
  • Shape - Displays the currently selected shape used for the beam element in the frame.
    • (Select Column shape tool) – Opens the Shape Selection dialog, used to select a catalog shape from a list of standard shapes and sizes for the beam.
    • Rotation (Drop-down) – Allows selecting the rotation of the selected frame shape. Select a rotation angle (at 90° increments) from the drop-down list.
    • Mirror – When checked, mirrors the selected shape of the beam. Useful in some cases where the shapes needs to be mirrored in order to achieve the proper placement.
  • Beam – Settings used to define the beams.
    • Beam dropdown (the first field) – Lists column index. Make the selection here to work on a different column in the frame. The field displays selected column which is currently being edited when multiple columns have been added (using the [+]).
    • [+] – Adds a beam to the frame.
    • [-] – Removes selected beam from the frame.
  • Start Ref. – Lists the start reference of your beam, determined by which column the start of the beam intersects.
  • End Ref. – Lists the end reference of your beam, determined by which column the end of the beam intersects. When set to none, disables the Length, Rotation, and Center options below.
  • Q – Sets the elevation of the top of the beam. It is measured from the point of origin as defined above in reference point selection, to the Top of Steel of the beam being inserted.
  • Length – Displays the length of the beam that you are currently work on. The length can be modified, when active. Enabled only when a start reference is set and no end reference.
  • Rotation (Drop-down) – Allows selecting the rotation of the selected beam shape. Select a rotation angle (at 90° increments) from the drop-down list. The Rotation is selectable only when a start reference is set and no end reference.
  • Center – When checked, centers the beam along its length at the top of the column indicated by the start reference (Start Ref). This option is only when a start reference is set and no end reference.
