Extended Stairs - Steps tab

Used to edit the geometry and bolt shapes and placements for the steps of the extended stairs.
SettingDescription
Insert steps When checked, adds steps to the stringers on the stair set model, as per values set to below settings.
Type Sets a type of step selected from the drop-down list.
  • NO – When set, no steps will not appear, irrespective of the Insert Steps setting. The remaining two options are to create steps using Shapes or using Cell.
  • Shape – When set, enables the Shape settings, for creating steps.
  • Cell – When set, enables the Cell settings, for creating steps.
Cell Enabled for Cell Types.
  • Path – Allows you to import a program file that is compatible with ProStructures.
  • Select cell step path (folder icon) – Opens a dialog window that allows you to select the directory containing stair step cells. One selected, the Path displays the selected directory path.
  • Cell – From the Path, select a user defined cell.
Bolt Sets bolting steps to the stringer while Bolt type is selected.
Insert hole When checked, inserts holes on the stringer for the bolts. Used when connecting the steps using bolts. When checked, the holes and bolts are removed.
Shape Enabled for Shape types.
  • P1 / P2 – Displays the currently specified shapes;

P1 – used as main element in the step.

P2– used as support element as supporting angles in the step.

    • (Select Shape tool) – Opens the Shape Selection dialog, used to select a catalog shape from a list of standard shapes and sizes for the steps.
    • Rotation (Drop-down) – Allows selecting the rotation of the selected frame shape. Select a rotation angle (at 90° increments) from the drop-down list. The outer edge of the frame remains in the same location.
    • Mirror – When checked, mirrors the component across the nosing line of the steps. Useful in some cases where the shapes needs to be mirrored in order to achieve the proper placement.
Holes
  • Dm/P – Sets the diameter of the holes for the bolts, when bolts are used to support the stairs.
  • D/Z – Sets the distance between the centers of two holes on the stringer, when bolts are used to support the stairs.
  • P – Sets the play for the bolt considering oversize or tolerance.
  • Z – Sets the distance from inside of the radius at each end for slotted bolt hole. This is the length of the straight portion of the slot made by the hole, not including the rounded ends.
  • X – Sets the offset from the center of the tread in the X-direction.
  • Y – Sets the offset from the center of the tread in the Y-direction.
Support step Settings for the support steps on the landing platform.
  • Stair – When checked, inserts a support step on the stairs.
  • S1 – Sets the horizontal offset of the support step from the outside of the platform. A positive value moves the support shape inwards from its initial insertion point.
  • S2 – Sets the vertical offset of the support step. A positive value moves the support shape down from its initial insertion point.
Platform Settings for the support steps on the landing platform.
  • T – Sets the typology of the platform.
The options for type of platforms are:
    • NO – Places no grating.
    • Grating A – Places grating only for their individual staircase elements; leaving the space between the staircases on the landings with no grating.
    • Grating B – Places grating across the entire length of the landing, with no space left open.
  • Grid – When checked, adds a grating to the platform. When unchecked, places a solid plate instead.
  • F1 – Sets Horizontal offset of the end of the stringers to the end of the platform. Whether grating or plate is defined, either can be resized. A positive number will reduce the size of the grating/plate on the platforms from front to back evenly. Whether grating or plate is defined, either can be resized. A positive number will reduce the size of the grating/plate on the platforms from side to side evenly
  • F2 – Sets Vertical offset of the outside edge of the stringers to the edge of the platform.
  • S – Sets Thickness of the platform. value determines the thickness of the grating/plate used on the platforms
Flat step When placing steps a plate is drawn at the end of each step.
  • A – Sets the plate width. A 0 width is automatically adjusted according to the size of the step selected, where the end support will be the same as the tread/step.
  • B – Sets the plate height. Width of the end support for the tread/step. When placing steps a plate is drawn at the end of each step. This value will determine the plate Height.
  • C – Sets thickness of the end support for the tread/step. When placing steps a plate is drawn at the end of each step. This value will determine the plate Thickness
  • D – Sets the horizontal distance from the edge of the end support to the outside edge of the tread/step. Shifts the steps end plate horizontally by the amount entered.
  • E – Sets the vertical distance from the top edge of the end support to the top of the tread/step. Shifts the steps end plate vertically by the amount entered.
