Standard Stair - Stair Runs Parameters tab

Used to create multiple stair runs in the stair as well as define parameters for intermediate landings between runs.
SettingDescription
Total Runs Settings used to define runs for the stair.
  • [ ] (the first field) – displays the total number of stair runs in this stair.
  • [+] – Adds a stair run to the stair.
  • [-] – Removes the top-most stair run from the stair.
Current Stair Sets the number from the drop-down list associated with a stair run to define parameters to that run.
Is First / Is Last The checked settings indicate the whether the current stair is the first or last runs in stair with two or more runs. These are non-editable and are for information only.
Input By Sets the method of inputting stair geometry parameters from the drop-down list.
The 3-letter profile string activates corresponding fields to set:
  • L (Stair Length): Length of the stair from nose of lowest tread to nose of top tread, riser, or landing.
  • H (Stair Height): Total height of the stair from base to top of top tread, riser, or landing.
  • S (Stair Slope): Slope of the stair stringer.
  • T (Tread Width): Horizontal distance from nose to nose of adjacent treads.
  • N (Step Number): Number of steps in the stair run.
  • R (Riser Height): Vertical distance from the tops of two adjacent treads.

After setting the selected three values, the tool calculates and displays the remaining three values.

Round Steps Number Activated for stair profile having no manual entry for N (Step Number). The Step Number be calculated internally by rounding it as set, either of the two options:
  • Round Up – Rounds the number of steps used up.
  • Round Down – Rounds the number of steps used down.
Intermedia Landing group Defines the parameters for an intermediate landing group between stair runs.
  • Angle Type – Sets the angle group from the drop-down list for the turn in stair runs at the current landing.
  • Turn Angle – If LT90 or GT90 is selected as the Angle Type, then type the value of the angle here.
  • Inverse – When checked, turns the angle to clockwise (when looking down on the stair from above).

When unchecked, turns the angle to counterclockwise.

  • Support Shape – Displays the shape size for the currently selected support member in the intermediate landing.
    • (Select Shape tool) – Opens Shape Selection dialog where desired shape size is selected.
  • Extend options – Sets which support member is extended to support the landing.
For turn angles up to 90°, only one of the following options may be selected. For turn angles greater than 90°, both leg extensions may be selected.
    • Extend Lower Leg – The inside stringer from the lower stair run is extended to support the interior of the intermediate landing.
    • Extend Higher Leg – The inside stringer from the upper stair run is extended to support the interior of the intermediate landing.
    • Extend None – Neither leg is used.
  • Inputs (A through J) – Sets the user inputs to the active dimension field. The geometry inputs vary for the type of support parameters specified. (Refer to the dynamic illustration preview pan to relate the input dimensions).
  • Start / End / Middle /Back Support – Sets whatever combination is required for the intermediate landing supports at the top of the lower stair and bottom of the upper stair.
Note: If an option is required for the landing configuration, then that option is set and made inactive.
