Shape Sections

Used to create a so-called "cranked" shape. This is done by adding curved or straight segments to straight or already cranked shapes.

Accessed from:
  • Ribbon: Steel > Home > Edit Steel Elements > Add Shape Section
  • Shapes dialog:

Straight Segment tab
  • Length - Specifies the length of the straight segment to be added.
Arc Segment tab
  • Radius - Specifies the radius of the arc segment.
  • Angle - Specifies the sweep angle of the arc segment.
  • Rotation - Specifies the orientation angle of the arc segment relative to the x-axis (longitudinal axis) of the shape.
  • - Click to append the Rotation value by 90° in a counter clockwise direction (to the left).
  • - Click to append the Rotation value by 90° in a clockwise direction (to the right).
  • Rotation angle field - The angle by which the segment has to be turned additionally.
Favorites
  • Current Settings - Select when you haven't created any template and you want to use the current settings of the dialog instead.
  • Bentley/Default - Select when you want to use the application default settings template and you don't want to use the current settings of the dialog instead.
OK Closes the dialog and save your changes.
Cancel Closes the dialog without saving changes.
Help Opens online help.
Template Saves and retrieve (Using Templates) settings to be used on other projects.
Add segment to shape Click to select a straight or already cranked shape to be extended. The segment is added to the end nearest to the selection point.
Remove segment from shape Click to select a cranked shape at the end to be deleted. The segment at the selected end is then deleted.
Edit segment Click to select a cranked shape at the end to be processed. The data are read and can be modified within the dialog.
