Working With Assignments
Assignments are special properties that you can associate to elements of your drawing. They can help you organize drawing elements based on similar characteristics, and they also work as filtering criteria for displaying and detailing drawing information.
Many ProConcrete dialogs contain a tab (or node) used to set up assignments. Depending on the tool you are working with, assignments may include any of the following:
Assignment | Description | Notes |
---|---|---|
Area Class |
An identifier — typically based on a section or division within the structure — that you can apply to similar elements so that they can be easily displayed or hidden together. You can also use area classes to select elements in the detailing process. Display Classes and Area Classes. |
Select the desired area class from the dropdown list. |
Cast Type |
The method by which concrete is cast, such as post-tension or pre-stress. |
Select the desired cast type from the dropdown list. |
Description |
A general parts description you can apply to similar types of elements. Descriptions can determine the elements' color and layer. |
Select the desired description from the dropdown list. |
Detail Style |
An identifier that determines how the element will look on 2D drawing details. Creating 2D Drawing Details. |
Select a detail style from the dropdown list. |

Element |
Basic component type, such as Beam, Column, Wall, or Footing. |
Elements are automatically assigned by the program. |
Item Number |
The identification number assigned to the item. |
Assign a unique item number to the part. |
Level |
Select the level on which the element is to be drawn and stored. |
When you first set up an element, select a level or leave blank to use the default level. |

Part Family |
An identifier used to group similar elements. You can assign colors and detail styles to part families so they are easily distinguishable from one another. Working With Part Families. |
An element can only belong to one part family. Select the desired part family from the dropdown list. |
Rebar Frames |
A 2D view of your drawing. Using Plan and Elevation View Tools. |
Click the dropdown list, then check the desired frame views. |
Resolution |
The quality at which the element displays: Low, Normal, or High. Higher resolutions provide a better representation in your drawing, but often take longer to display and refresh. |
Select the desired resolution from the dropdown list. |
