Conflict with Other CAD Application

A known conflict exists between PlantWise and Intergraph’s FrameWorks. PlantWise may not be able to fully start on a computer with FrameWorks – even if FrameWorks has been un-installed. This problem is best identified by the following messages in the CAD text window:

• System fault: 5
• MDL abort in MSDPP
• MDL abort in MSDPP

To resolve this problem, the c:\bentley\program\CAD\config\appl\fw.cfg file needs to be renamed or removed; fw.cfg.old is a known name for the file that works.

Bad or Outdated CAD Design++ or PlantWise Executable

When PlantWise starts CAD, the first thing it tries to do is load the Design++ interface file msdpp.ma found in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\PlantWise V8i\Dpp\msv8i-interface\win32-i86 folder. The msdpp.ma application then loads PlantWise.ma. This is the MDL between Design++ and the PlantWise Executable.

If CAD still shows no indication of starting, it is possible that the .ma file has a problem. The first thing you should try to resolve the problem is to re-install PlantWise into a new directory.

If the problem persists, a request for the correct file should be made to Bentley Systems (see Appendix F - Reporting Problems). The date of the existing file should be supplied.

Bad Environment Variable

Reconfiguring a PlantWise installation should correct environment variables. If, however, the problem continues, enter (plantwise-debug-ms) into the Command Interpreter and e-mail the results to Bentley Systems. (Items in the Command Interpreter can be highlighted, copied, and pasted into the body of an e-mail.)

Old Versions of CAD

PlantWise no longer supports older versions of CAD.
