Named Inline Components

Named inline components – control valves, flow elements, and pressure safety valves – are added to the model in the Named Inline List dialog.

Named Inline List.

To define a new inline component:

  1. Select Named Inline List from the Process menu to open the Named Inline List dialog.
  2. Enter the Tag of the new inline component.
  3. Select or enter the inline component type from the Inline Type column:
    • flow_element,
    • control_valve, or
    • pressure_safety_valve (relief valves).
  4. For flow elements and control valves, enter or select the pipeline the component is placed in using the Pipeline selection box.
    • A pipeline is not selected for a PSV because they are placeable components. Rather, once defined, the PSV generates virtual inlet and outlet nozzles that serve as and origin and terminus for defined pipelines.
      Note: The AutoRouter cannot place a PSV until the connectivity of it’s inlet pipeline has been defined.
  5. If the inline component is a control valve, enter or select its nominal size using the Size selection box.
  6. Accept creates the inline component object in the process model and adds the component into the inline component list.
Note: Note: once Accepted, only the diameter of a control valve can be changed in the Named Inline List dialog.

To delete an inline component:

  1. Select the inline component to delete in the inline component list. This brings the inline component data into the entry fields.
  2. Select Edit > Delete.
  3. Answer the prompt
    “Are you sure you want to delete the <inline Type> <Tag>”
    with Yes to continue or No to abort the delete.

Inline List Menus

Along with deleting an inline component, the Edit menu lets you:
  • open the editor for a component (Component);
  • rename the component (Rename Component);
  • open the Pipeline and Connectivity editors;
  • open the Inline Placement (Place) and
  • Slide dialogs; and open the Exception List.

To exit the Plant Builder Boundary List dialog, click Cancel. Information not Applied is discarded.
