Exporting Process Models to Excel

The PlantWise Excel Import/Export dialog also contains an Export button. With this command, the current model is exported to an Excel spreadsheet that contains a separate worksheet for every class of equipment, the collection of connectivity tables, and the remaining process files. The spreadsheet file is saved in the project’s Input folder as <model-name>.xlsx.

Note: Although the Browse button is enabled, you cannot override the location of the exported spreadsheet.
If a spreadsheet of the current model name already exists, you will be prompted with:
A file named ‘<project-path>/<model-name>.xls’ already exists in this location.
Do you want to replace it?

If a new file name is desired, click No – and the export process begins. Once finished, you will be prompted with an Excel Save As dialog to define the name of the new export file. (Again, note that the location of the file cannot be changed.)

The Excel file PlantWise creates when exporting a model has the following formatting:
  • a separate worksheet for each class of data being exported;
  • a column for every attribute that can be imported will be created; and
  • the identifiers for reducers, specification breaks, and user inlines will be formatted as:
    <pipeline ID>_<component type>-<sequence number>
Note: This format will overwrite other naming conventions previously used when importing the current data.
