Bent Structural Members

If after selecting the Place Member tool icon on the Structure Toolbox a SmartLine with more that two points is selected, the ISM created will be a Bent Structural member.

Bent Structural Member

The bent structural member shown above was created by selecting the smart line which is a copy of the dashed line shown above the member.

The same Structural Member Builder dialog is used for bent and straight ISM. The only difference is when a smart line with more than two points is selected the Structural Member Builder dialog will have an additional field, Bending Radius, in the Member Properties pane, and all of the points will be listed in the Location Properties pane.

Bent Structural Member Editor

Bent Structural Members behave the same way as ISM. They can be associated with a pipeway or structure or they can be free standing. If associated with a structure or pipeway, they will move and be deleted when the structure or pipeway is moved or deleted.

Note: The Bending Radius can be input in any units, but it will always be displayed in sub-units, that is, inches or millimeters. The Bending Radius is applied to all points between the first and last points of the smart line. If the Bending Radius exceeds the length of any segment the end points of the segments will be moved to accommodate the radius.
