Check Out Project

The Check Out project command is available from the Project cascading submenu, which is a part of the ProjectWise cascading menu.

Selecting the Check Out project command opens the Select Project dialog and Select Destination (Browse for Folder) dialog.
Note: The select destination folder dialog will not appear if there is currently a project open that has the same name as the project selected for check out. In that case, the destination folder will be assumed to be the same one as the currently open project.

Selecting a source project

Selecting a destination folder

The list of available projects in the source dialog is extracted from the PlantWise Projects folder in the ProjectWise data source. If any errors occur during the project check out, you will be given the option of seeing the list of the files that could not be checked out at the end of the operation.

Displaying errors that occurred during multiple file operations

During project check out, if there is a local file in the destination directory which is different from the repository copy, a dialog opens with these options.

Local copy file does not match repository copy

  • Clicking Yes checks out the file while keeping the local copy.
  • Clicking No checks out the file and overwrite the local copy with the repository version.
  • Clicking Always is the same as selecting Yes except that you are not be prompted for each file that is different during the current check out operation.
  • Clicking Never is the same as selecting No except that you are not be prompted subsequently for files that don’t match during the current check out operation.

A common scenario where the local copy of the file and the repository copy may differ is when another user has checked out the file and checked it back in since the last time that the current user did a project get or refresh. Successfully checking out a project results in PlantWise automatically opening the project.
