Obstacle Placement

Obstacles can be placed directly with the Plant Builder Obstacle Builder or via CAD with a two dimension rectangle.

Direct Obstacle Placement

To place an obstacle directly, open the Obstacle Builder by:

Selecting Plant > Obstacle from the PlantWise menu.

or
Selecting PlantWise > Plant > Obstacle from CAD.
As obstacles are not predefined, you must provide a Name as well as a drawing Level for the new obstacle (the Description is optional).
Enter the Origin (X), Origin (Y), and Origin (Z) coordinates of the center of the bottom face of the obstacle; as well as the Orientation of the obstacle.
Enter Width (X), Length (Y), and Height (Z) of the obstacle box.
Once all the data is entered, click the Accept button for the values to take effect.

Obstacle Placement with CAD

As PlantWise can associate 2D circles and rectangles with equipment, rectangles can be associated with obstacles in the process model.

Since the assumed orientation of the obstacle is North, the rectangle’s dimension along the x-axis is always set to width. Similarly, the dimension along the y-axis is set to length.

As with direct placement, you will need to provide a Name, drawing Level, and Height for the new obstacle.

The equipment placement process is as follows:

Select the Place Obstacle tool icon in the Plant Toolbox.
Select the rectangle with which to associate the obstacle. Alternatively, draw a rectangle then select it.
The Obstacle Builder dialog opens.
Provide the missing values for the obstacle.
Click the Accept button.
