CAD Settings

Because settings in the seed file are so important, this section covers how to set working units.

To change working units

These instructions use the millimeter-startup.dgn.

  1. Open the seed drawing file. The seed files are kept in the msv8i subfolder of the project.
    Note: There are no objects in the drawing seed files provided by Bentley Systems, so the screen opens empty.
  2. From the Settings menu select Design File...
  3. Select Working Units from the Category list.

  4. Click the Advanced button.

    Before opening the advanced settings dialog, CAD alerts you that changing resolution can cause errors in the drawing.

  5. Click OK to the Alert to open the Advanced Unit Settings dialog.

    In this example, the Resolution is 1000 per millimeter – that is, 1000 positional units per millimeter. This gives you a Working Area of 9007199 kilometers in each direction.

  6. Change the resolution settings as needed.
  7. Save Settings (File > Save Settings, or <Ctrl+F>). Design file settings are NOT saved automatically, you must Save Settings before leaving the drawing, or the new settings will not be implemented.

If the new settings are not being used, exit PlantWise and check if there is a startup.dgn file in the same directory as the seed file. If there is, delete it and start again.
