Lookup Lists

The Lookup Lists feature enables predefined value–description pairs to appear in a dropdown for selected cells in the EDM spreadsheet or property forms during editing. You can either select a value from the dropdown or enter a custom value when needed.

Lookup list dropdowns are provided for all editable properties. You can quickly locate the correct option by searching through either the value or the description.

For the lookup list to appear in EDM, make sure you have updated the OpenPlant extension schema: OpenPlantExtensions.ecschema.xml. Until this schema is updated, the picklist will not appear during the provision or upgrade workflow.

Guideline for Enabling Lookup List in EDM:
  • Make sure you are using the latest OPPA build (e.g., 24.00.03.20).
  • Replace the updated OpenPlant extension schema (OpenPlantExtensions.ecschema.xml) at the workspace level.
  • The lookup/pick list will not appear after provision or upgrade until this schema is replaced.

To get the updated schema, you can copy the latest schema from one of these locations:

  • C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OPPA 2024\BIS\OpenPlantExtensions.ecschema.xml
  • C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant 2024\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\Standards\OpenPlant\Schemas\BIS\OpenPlantExtensions.ecschema.xml
To update it in the WorkSpace, replace the existing file at your workspace path, for example:
  • C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant 2024\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\Standards\OpenPlant\Schemas\BIS\OpenPlantExtensions.ecschema.xml
Pick lists appear in the Tag Browser when:
  • Editing an existing Tag
  • Creating a new tag
  • Editing a single tag
  • Reviewing unsaved changes
Pick lists appear in the Query Browser for:
  • Standard Queries
  • AdvancedQueries
