Calculation Sequence Checker

The calculation sequence number is used for calculations that rely on the output of previous calculations. For example, you may have a point in your calculation that is a calculated parameter itself. To calculate the correct results, the calculated parameter point would have to be calculated first before it could be used to calculate this new calculation.

The Calculation Sequence Checker appears whenever the Calculation Designer is saved, and performs a check to confirm that any sequence numbers are in the correct order. If they are not, then a suggested order is given.

In the example above, there are 3 issues found, and suggestions made. If the user wishes to accept all the changes, then all the boxes should be checked, and “Update Selected” clicked.

There is a checkbox for “Check sequence number integrity”. If this is unticked, then the sequence checking will not be performed again for the user during the currently logged in session. Instead, when saving a calculation, a pop-up confirming the save is displayed; this gives no indication of any sequence issues.

If the calculated parameter originates from a template, then the sequence checker highlights any incorrect sequences and marks them as “Templated”. In these cases, the sequences will need to be fixed on the templates database, rather than on the instance of the template.
