TBM UTR (Universal Tapered Ring)
The workflow for modeling TBM UTR that is using a TBM tunnel template is as follows:
- User imports/creates or references an alignment.
- User adds a tunnel corridor
on his alignment. By default, each tunnel corridor creates a default tunnel
unit. The user will have to choose from the dropdown list for the type of
tunnel "TBM".
Figure 1.
- User adds the reference lines that define the start and end of the tunnel solid.
- User imports a tunnel cross-section from the Tunnel Templates Catalog to the Tunnel Templates.
- User starts Place TBM UTR
command.
Figure 2.
The following options are available for input:
- Tunnel Template ? The tunnel cross-section which is used for extrusion.
- Start Station Offset ? The offset from the start reference line of the tunnel.
- End Station Offset ? The offset from the end reference line of the tunnel.
- Ring Name Prefix - The prefix used to give a name to a ring.
- Ring Start Number ? The number which is used to start numbering rings.
- Taper ? The value that shows the difference between the maximum/minimum width and the mean width of the ring.
- Number of Dowels - Number of dowels used to connect segments from different rings. The number of dowels is used to compute the dowel pitch angle.
- First Ring Position ? If the First Ring Position is written as 1, it means the first ring will be placed according to the segment definition on tunnel template. For the other ring positions, segments will be rearranged according to the dowel pitch angle and user will be able to choose one of them as a first Ring.
- Excluded Ring Positions - List of ring positions not allowed in combination with the first ring position. Numbers should be separated by commas.
- User places the tunnel by selecting start and end referencelines. Take note that each tunnel unit can contain a single tunnel solid. If the user needs to model different tunnel geometry along the tunnel length, he can create multiple tunnel units under the same tunnel corridor. Each unit can contain its own tunnel solid created by its own tunnel cross-section.
