Geometry Constraints

Geometry constraints allow users to create complex parametric templates, where the geometry of the template is controlled by the constraints. After adding a constraint, users can bind the constrain value to a variable and it can be easily modified without needing to be manually rebuilt. Multiple variations with different sets of variables can be defined for template geometry. When using a set of variables, the geometry modifications are made in bulk mode.

Constraints with variables can be added to the templates of tunnel linings, reinforcements, excavation subspaces, auxiliaries and portals.

To create a new template with constraints, use the following procedure:

  • Draw the geometry for the corresponding element.
  • Use constraint tools to assign constraints to geometry. Please refer to Microstation help - Constraints Tab
  • Save the changes.
  • Variables and variations will be seen on the GUI.

For existing templates open the template and assign constraints and variables.
