To Pattern the Difference Between Elements

Select the Pattern Area tool ( Drawing > Annotate > Patterns ).

Click the Difference icon in the tool settings.

Choose the cell or pattern to use.

Select the element from which to subtract.

Select the element to subtract from the element in the preceding step.

The area to be patterned is displayed dynamically.

Optional: Use Ctrl+data point to select further elements to subtract.

Enter a data point to pattern the area.
