To Invoke 3D Drive Through Tool
A 3D element is required for the pathway to drive along. This can be a MicroStation 3D element or a civil horizontal and associated vertical element to drive along.
Have graphics which show the roadway in 3D; either terrain models, corridor models, meshes, solids, or other 3D elements.
- Set the views. Note a minimum of one 3D view is required.
Select the tool and follow the heads-up prompts. First, select the 3D view wherein the drive is displayed. Then select the centerline. Note it does not have to be the centerline of a roadway, any MicroStation 3D or Civil horizontal / active profile element can be utilized. Once selected, the drive through view is set up and moves to the beginning of the 3D element, and the Drive Through dialog opens.
Note: Start Stations other than 0.0 and Station Equations will only appear in the Station text box if a 2D civil element(which contains an active vertical profile) or it’s Current Active 3D Linear Element is selected. Start Stations and Equations will not appear as Microstation elements or civil elements called Additional 3D Linear Elements because these elements do not contain a Civil Stationing Object.
Dialog SettingsThe navigation dialog consists of three tabs:
Contains navigation controls for running, panning, moving backwards and forward, etc.
Contains adjustment for cross slope rotation (to simulate superelevation) and toggle for optional clipping plane.
Camera / Target Controls
Sets the location of the camera (i.e., location of the driver) and the target point, projected location where the driver is looking. Optional horizontal and vertical offsets are supported for both the camera and target locations.
