OpenRoads SignCAD to DGN Application

This topic describes how to setup the OpenRoads SignCAD to DGN Application in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenRail Designer, and OpenSite Designer.

CONFIGURATION FILE SETUP

Copy the SignCADToDGN.cfg file found in the C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads SignCAD 2025.00\SignCADToDGN folder into the MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenRail Designer, and OpenSite Designer product config\appl folder.

C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation 20xx.xx\MicroStation\config\appl

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE SIGNCAD MENU IN BENTLEY PRODUCTS

The OpenRoads SignCAD ribbon workflow includes icons to Insert or Paste an OpenRoads SignCAD file into the DGN file.

Import SignCAD File - Browse to select SGN file to import into the DGN file.
Paste SignCAD File - Paste sign from the clipboard into the DGN file. To add a sign to the clipboard, select the sign in OpenRoads SignCAD followed by Copy (or CTRL-C).
Batch Import - Import multiple SGN files to import into a DGN file.

The table below describes the different Import Sign File settings.

Settings	Descriptions
Sign Settings	Import Background Color- Allows you to include the background color of imported sign. Sign Scale- Allows you to set the sign scale value. Sign Rotation Angle- Allows you to set the sign rotation angle. Use View Rotation- Allows you to view the rotation angle of the imported sign. Note: Enable the check box to Import Background Color and Use View Rotation settings
Dimension Settings	Scale Mode- Allows you to set the specific scale mode. Drawing Scale- Allows you to set the drawing scale value. Dimension Font- Allows you to set the scale dimension font. Decimal Places- Allows you to set the decimal places. Note: Enable the check box to use the Include Dimension settings option.
Level Settings	Sign Level- Allows you to set the sign level. Dimension Level- Allows you to set the dimension level to default or other values. Note: Enable the check box to use the Level Settings: Active level For Signs, Create New Active Levels for Signs, Active Level For Dimensions, and Create New Level For Dimensions.
Restore Settings	Allows you to restore the imported sign settings back to the default settings.
Place Sign	Allows you to place the sign as per the selected settings.

Paste SignCAD File

The table below describes the different Paste Sign File settings.

Settings	Descriptions
Sign Settings	Import Background Color- Allows you to include the background color of imported sign. Sign Scale- Allows you to set the sign scale value. Sign Rotation Angle- Allows you to set the sign rotation angle. Use View Rotation- Allows you to view the rotation angle of the imported sign. Note: Enable the check box to Import Background Color and Use View Rotation settings

Restore Settings	Allows you to restore the imported sign settings back to the default settings.
Place Sign	Allows you to place the sign as per the selected settings.
