Profile

In OpenRoads Designer, a profile model is used to create, edit, and view vertical geometry elements. Vertical geometries are created based on terrain elevation. Vertical alignment created for existing horizontal alignment is called Profile.

User can create simple geometries such as create profile line, profile curve and complex profiles using from previously placed elements by joining them in sequence.

The profile has vertical geometry and the feature definition. The feature definition controls the symbology of the element such as level, color, line style, and line weight etc. as well as the annotation properties of the element.

All geometric data of profile is stored directly in the design file (.DGN) .

Profile is created in a state after creating the dgn and horizontal alignment.

The below image shows how the profile looks like :

The image contains the terrain elevation boundary and profile. The horizontal and vertical numbers here in the image indicates the station and terrain elevation values.
