Alignment

In OpenRoads Designer, Geometry constitutes the basic horizontal and vertical position of a design from which all features are generated. Geometries are created in two stages: first the horizontal design, then the vertical design. This topic covers the horizontal design i.e., alignment.

User can create simple geometries such as create line between points, create arc, locate, and modify points, create spirals. And also, complex geometries like create a linear element with curves based on points of Intersection locations, create a complex element from previously placed elements by joining them in sequence.

The horizontal alignment has horizontal geometry and the feature definition. The feature definition controls the symbology of the element such as level, color, line style, and line weight etc. as well as the annotation properties of the element.

All geometric data is stored directly in the design file (.DGN)

Alignments are created in a state after creating the dgn and dgn having active terrain. In OpenRoads Designer, alignments are used as centerline for creating a corridor/road design.
