Corridor

Corridor modeling is the main feature of OpenRoads Designer. Corridor modeling allows the user to create a dynamic and intelligent 3D design model. The alignment is used as centerline for creating the corridor. A corridor is first created in 2D by assigning horizontal and vertical alignment to the corridor, and then assigning template to the corridor along the horizontal alignment. Once the template is assigned to corridor, a 3D model is created.

A template represents cross section along the corridor. Templates are made up of components and are stored in template library. The components are edge of pavement, shoulder, sidewalk, curb and gutter etc.

OpenRoads Designer provides user to create/edit/delete corridors, create/edit/copy/import template drops, create/edit transitions, etc. corridor related processing tools.

The below image shows the 2D corridor model.

Corridor Modeling Workflow

The general workflow for corridor modeling is listed below. Tasks 5-9 can be done in any order and not all tasks are required.
