Curve Widening

The curve widening feature in OpenRoads Designer allows us to edit the corridor. Curve widening is used to automatically create and apply horizontal controls to widen lane and/or edge of pavement lines around curves, moving them further away from the centerline at each curve of the controlling alignment. In ORD curve widening is assigned using a .wid file, which contains parameters to define the widening such as Radius, width for the inner curve, width for the outer curve, and length of transitions for inner and outer curves.

The below image shows how the 2D corridor looks after applying curve Widening to the point EOP_R.

The below image shows the .wid file which can be found at location "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenRoads Designer CE 10.11\Configuration\Organization-Civil\_Civil Default Standards - Imperial\Widening". The file name is "curve_widening_imperial_no_spirals.wid".
