Sight Visibility

What is sight visibility?

Analysis of sight distances along an alignment or a corridor's control alignment based on specified design terrain or a corridor's top mesh and an optional existing surface or mesh. Various other settings specify the eye and object's paths, heights and offsets used to determine if the required sight distance can be achieved without intersecting the design or existing terrains or meshes.

Prolog

At the completion of the tool execution a Results dialog box displays and the sight lines appear in the 3D model.

The Sight Visibility's Feature Definition contains three Feature Symbologies that represent the result of each sight line's analysis of the sight distance at each eye position.

  • The Achieved Feature Symbology specifies the color, weight and style of all the sight lines that achieved the required sight distance.
  • The Relaxed Feature Symbology specifies the specifies the color, weight and style of all the sight lines that achieved a sight distance greater than or equal to the Relaxed Sight Distance and also less than required sight distance.
  • The Not Achieved Feature Symbology specifies the color, weight and style of all the sight lines that did not achieve the required sight distance.

Report

Displays a more detailed report of the sight lines that are in the Results box. The report can be customized by creating a new .xsl style sheet or modifying one of the delivered style sheets.

Achieved

When checked On all the sight lines that achieved the required sight distance are displayed in the 3D model.

Relaxed

When checked On all the sight lines that achieved a sight distance greater than or equal to the Relaxed Sight Distance and also less than required sight distance are displayed in the 3D model.

Not Achieved

When checked On all the sight lines that did not achieve the required sight distance are displayed in the 3D model.

Show Selected

When On only the row or rows selected in the Results dialog box are displayed. The user can also use the Up/Down arrows to display the row that is selected in the Results dialog box. When Off the previous status of the check boxes for Achieved, Relaxed and Not Achieved are reinstated.
