Limitations and Best Practices
When regression points are upgraded, vertical points are disposed. This is limited to vertical regression point objects. Created vertical geometry elements (lines, arcs, complexes) are preserved as simple geometry elements.
If vertical regression will be done with the upgraded data, regression line should be recreated in the new version. This is required as in the 2024 version vertical information is automatically created and part of the point information, there is no separate Create Profile from Regression tools.
Best Practice Workflow,
- Upgrade the data to new version.
- If vertical regression will be done removed the upgraded regression line and points and recreate the regression line from original points/rails/lines. If vertical regression (or existing cant) is not required, this step can be skipped.
- Use Change Regression Complex tool to map main geometry complex to regression line. This will also bring vertical geometry if there is one on the new complex.
- If there are other elements needs to be added, add those using Add to Regression Geometry tool. Please note that, when used on horizontal elements, this tool also brings in associated active verticals to the new complex profile. But these should then added separately, using the same tool, to vertical regression complex using the profile model.
